Torman Maxt
"The Foolishness of God"
(2001 Mars Hill Records)

By Wayne Klinger

Rarely do you get a band with all brothers as the case for this trio; the only band I can remtely remember with all brothers is an old Prog-Metal band called Ziad out of New Jersey a few years ago and never knew what happened to them. All the tracks on here are broken up into 4 sections and makes up 12 total tracks that exploit religion, space and human existence. I would say they are a Christian Prog-Rock band going by the lyrics but I' content as just saying they are a positive band and don't really preach as one may assume. "Foolishness.." has a few cool instrumentals on here and the band can bounce from progressive Rock to an almost Metal feel at times depending on what point they want to put across to the listener. The brothers are extremely talented in all aspects of their instruments and come across like a few bands I can remember that had an identity; GTR, Triumph,Kansas and Zebra with a newer style of Cairo. I'm not familiar with the other release before this titled, "Just Talking About the Universe...So Far", but this album alone speaks volumes when it comes to musicmanship and songwriting ideas. A constant surprise lurks within every song on here and makes it that much better to listen to. www.tormanmaxt.com tony@marshillstudio.com
