"Kiss The Vintage"
MVD/CWE

Written By: Paul Autry

Since Kiss happens to be my all time favorite band, I was looking forward to doing a review on this release. After all, I'm always up for seeing something on Kiss that I haven't seen before. But, like most of the other Kiss products that have been released lately, like "Kiss Pinball" for Playstation or the "Immortals" CD-Rom, this didn't quite pack the punch that I was expecting. With no music and a running time of only 42 minutes, you already know that it's gonna be less than exceptional...and it is. There's some cool interviews on here, which I haven't seen before. But, in all honesty, if I wanted to see them, I have a friend who more than likely has most, if not all, of this footage. About the only thing of real interest here is the early fan shot footage of the band that, as the back of the box says, may very well be some of the earliest film footage shot of the band. The only problem...it's silent. No music, no sound, nothing. While I did find it slightly interesting to watch, having to sit through sixteen minutes of silence was rather annoying. I would have at least had something going on in the backround, conversation or discussion about what you're watching would've been nice. But, absolute silence...and for sixteen minutes...just doesn't cut it.

Another complaint...there seems to be no real focus on this release. It's just a bunch of different things thrown together in order to make a few dollars on the Kiss name. I mean, let's face it, Kiss fans will buy almost anything that's associated with the band...even if it's something that doesn't make any sense. Die hard Kiss fans will buy this, there's no doubt about that. More than likely though, most people probably already have what's on this release. Kiss has a history that goes back how many years...and this DVD is only 42 minutes long...think about it.
