Skitzo from norhtern california, bay area metal will not be allowed.
Skitzo started up when the lead singer was 12 (lance ozanix) back in
1981. he was in a punk band before Skitzo, called The Gawdawful. from
1979. Then lance heard motorhead for the 1st time...and was hooked on
total metal/power distortion. he named the group Venom in 1981, but
then
later changed to for obvious reasons.
Skitzo's 1st demo was recorded in 1984 since then they have relased 14
releases. plus 3 home videos and a slew of metal comps cds, the latest
cd comming out is "Hellavator MusicK" it is total metal 80's
style-thrash www.go.to/skitzo
BallBuster: Introduce your current line-up to our readers?
Lance: well, me: lance ozanix - guitar/vocals/puke
kelly gillis bass and drummindave.com (dave ostwald)
BB: How long has the group been in existance?
L: are you kidding? i hate this question, 2 fucking decades!!!!
i feel old, and i ask my self why i keep thrashing, when no one gives a
fuck
about metal today, nothing compares to the mid 80's, maybe im just
wishful thinking, but its a gonner as far as metal in california is
concerned.
BB: In your own words describe your band's sound
& influences?
L: our sound is...fast, thrash metal, hints of horror gleem to it,
influences are old exodus, kreator, motorhead, sabbath, m.fate,
hellhammer, and gory horror films/slasher films. i was writing this
insane stuff while watching Eight is Enough was prime time TV, and
going... fuck this world,,,im a crazy fuck and i wanna kill people! so
i
wrote songs to kill people by.
BB:Name
some bands in which you've shared the stage & opened?
L: exodus, laaz rocket, angel witch, metallica - (spaztic children)
sam kinison, (accidently opened for Faster Pussy cat in 1990)
malevolent
creation, DRI, Forbidden, Machine Head Vio-lence, toured w/ Mentors 2
times, TSOL, Gwar, Tool (1989) Buck cherry (1995) dehumanizers, Aditude
Adjustment, Death Angel Possessed, Blind Iliusion..whew...im trying to
think...coz there is more - we are taking 2 decades here....hahaha i
know we done almost 6000 concerts in the life of skitzo!
BB: Where & what studio did the production take
place of your current release?
L: it was Grizzily studios in Petaluma CA, we are currently
recording the new cd there called HELLAVATOR MUSICk : all thrash, no
rap! is the moto -
BB: What is the current scene like in your local
area & how does Shadowcaster fit in?
L: we don't fit in at all! we are neanderthal fuck heads who know
too much and expect to little, we are unaccepted in the bay area!
probly
becasue
we puke on stage...and the bands don't like it. except Gwar - they can
care-less... hahah
BB: What's the bands long & short term goals
as far as touring, recording, writing ect ?
L: we set time frames like a record every 2 years or in the mean time,
we'll release a video or tour in the summer, play cali in the winter.
BB: What would you say is your biggest gripe
about the music industry?
L: no gripe untill 1991 came!!! metal music, radio, clubs, bands started
to
die out. thanks to Seatlle: then punk became a pop thing in 1995, then
rap metal became the metal signature in 2000 - THERE JUST INST SUPPORT
for metal like in the hey day. because metal is too macho and strong
and
fearless for the indusrty - its soo powder puffy....so skitzo is just
happy selling our 4000
cds a year and we just grin and bare it.
BB: Has there been any label interest ?
L: we are our own label "MourningStar" has been great, we have gotten
good enough tour support to go on the Angry White Male tour last
summer,
it was great...but no real label interest...i really think they are
scared of skitzo on their label, coz we have done it all, major TV,
Radio, some tours and we know what we want, and we don;t care about the
term "getting signed", show us some love!...and we'll rock forever!
thats all!
BB: Anything you wish to ad?
L: Thanks to David LaDuke for the metal support and
all of the Ball Bangers around the world. stay metal and say metal and
fuck to metal give birth to metal and puke metal....walk like a zombie
in your mall!
