By Martha Hughes Dimmu Borgir are one of those rare bands that one never forgets hearing for the first time. I remember where I first heard D.B. It was at the now forever gone Narcophelia club (R.I.P.) in San Francisco, where we metal fanatics gathered every Sunday afternoon for our dose of destruction. I loved this band from the first few melodic, yet evil chords I heard. Godless Savage Garden is by far their best work to date. The incredible craftmanship and professionalism of the work is outstanding enough to say that this is one of the best black metal releases ever. Pieces like “Chaos Without Prophecy”, which has great lyrics….”The quest for Azunda hath drawn near, The young king, the chaos he brings, With iron grip’s sword, chants come forth, The child of dark he is”…is truly a work of art. Other songs are just as great, and there are three live songs at the end. But, this CD just isn’t long enough. It leaves me panting and begging for more, more, more!!!! Please, give me more! ©1999, BBHrdRpt |
