BETWEEN THE FROST

(Abstract Emotions)

By Martha Hughes

Instinct of Surliness Like any decent black metal band, Between the Frost has great ability to combine classical music within their lightening fast guitars and drums. They utilize many Bach and Handel-inspired chord stuctures, which really bring depth to this CD. The vox are sung in a high pitch scream, with variations, and this takes a little getting used to. I wouldn't say this was the greatest black metal release I've heard, but it's a decent addition out of Southern Europe. More and more bands are arising out of Spain, which is refreshing to see. I always welcome good extreme bands from all parts of the globe.
