By Jym Harris From the moment I heard the sample from the movie ‘Airheads’ (the “I am Rock & Roll” speech) I could immediately tell these guys had a good sense of humor. I just wish there were lyrics printed in the booklet! A Planet For Texas plays what I consider ‘old-school’ style power-chord punk that they refer to as ‘Agri-core’. This Ohio 4-piece is a bit faster & angrier sounding, but at times remind me a little of the Ramones. The highlight of the disc is their cover of the Tommy James classic ‘Crimson & Clover’ which stands proudly up to the Joan Jett version! I gotta say, living in a small town in southern Oregon, I felt (maybe a little too close to home) a bit of a soft spot for these fellas. Anyone with a song called “Cowtippin’” is OK in my book.
