By Paul Autry Fair Verona's self titled CD features four songs that clock in at a little over 16 minutes. That was a big disappointment for me, especially considering the impact these four songs had on me. I was totally blown away. I became a fan the instant I pressed play on my stereo. I don't know what influences this band, but, from what I heard, there seemed to be traces of early Alice Cooper, The Blue Up and, my God, the list is endless. They reminded me of a hundred different bands while at the same time, sounding like none of them. When I can't seem to find the right words to describe what I'm hearing, I know I've got a winner. There's no doubt in my mind that this band is gonna be around forever, provided they decide to stick to their guns and continue to move forward with their music even when the mighty hand of the industry makes it seem like they have no future. Let me tell you something, I don't need some guy in a bad, three piece suit who only cares about dollar signs telling me what's good and what's not. This is good music...it beats the hell out of everything the industry has been trying to shove down my throat lately. Turn off your damn radio and pay attention to bands like Fair Verona. They've shown more talent in four songs that other bands can't match with four albums. Another thing...it doesn't matter if this band sells five CD's or five million, my opinion is that this is one of the best releases you will ever hear in this lifetime. But, it's gonna leave you wanting more. Right now, after cranking this disc more times than I can count, I find myself praying for anything else to feast upon...demos, videos...anything! For now, I'm gonna abuse the hell out of this four song release until something new arrives in my mailbox. Yes, my friends, you want this album...trust me! |
