By Jym Harris Detroit trio Forge is what most folks would call a "gimmick" band. Their gimmick? Why it's "future rock"...of course! That's right, comic book themes and all. Style-wise, the three piece consists of those 90's start/stop guitars, tight clicky drums with a piccolo snare, and Helmet style half talking/half shouting type vocals. The singer doesn't really hit enough notes to be "melodic", but like most of these groups, they could use a little more melody. It's not really pissed off sounding, which is good since it doesn't appear as if that's what they're shooting for. Forge has an interesting concept, for sure. Just remember, when you head out to get 'Trials' try looking for a disc with a sci-fi movie soundtrack looking cover, and you've found it! Contact: www.forgemusic.com |
