By Tate Bengtson Those with faint hearts and weak stomachs, steer clear, for this sick slab of gore death from Portugal with most surely make you vomit. For those with a stronger constitution, this raw and uncompromising attack of primal death metal is relentless, only held back by a mediocre production and lame sampled intros which serve little purpose beyond disrupting the music, as far as I am concerned. I guess that the band comes from the Mortician school of thought on trying to work as many horror movie sampled passages into the music as possible - as far as I am concerned, it just takes away valuable space that could be used for shredding some brutal death metal chaos. The wimpy production is particularly noticeable in the percussion department, although the vicious attack of the guitars does make up for this, to a certain degree. The cupped microphone cookie monster grunts are pretty typical in this genre, and the band does little to transcend the stereotype beyond the odd violent banshee screech. This is not a mindblowing release, but it does have some good qualities. SoDieMusic, P.O. Box 246, 4536 909 Lourasae, Portugal |
