By Paul Autry If I'm not mistaken, this CD was originally released in 1995 and what I now have before me is a re-release with two additional songs. If that is, in fact, the case, I feel like giving myself a boot to the head for not hearing about this band sooner because they kick ass in a major way. This is a good, solid rock album, it's as simple as that. Eleven songs, over an hour of music, what more could you ask for? What's even better is it's not those typical three minute rock songs. They've got tunes that are like six and seven minutes long..."A Sinner's Fame" and "I Lost A World Today" being two of them. The longest song on this disc (and one of the best) clocks in at seven minutes, fourty six seconds, the excellent "From Where I Am." This disc takes me back to the time when I first got into rock and roll, when I first heard a few guys getting together to make music just to give enjoyment to other people. It's the kind of music that, when you hear it, you wanna rush out and buy the album so you can play it for all your friends. I'm telling you, boys and girls, there's not a weak spot on the entire album. You can hold the flag high for rock and roll if you like. But, when you do, use your other hand to hold up a copy of The Quill's self titled album. It fucking rocks! |
