Hawt diggity American Dawg! Now THIS is rock and roll! The title of this album says it all! These bad boys sure ain't subtle about what they do that's for sure! And who'd want it that way anyway? Subtlety ain't what rock and roll's about! The six songs on this live recording, "D-N-F" (no prizes for guessing what that stands for!), "Drinkin' About You", "Too Damn Sober", "Just An Alcoholic", "Drank Too Much", and "I'll Drink To That"....well, need I say more? It's clear these guys love to party, but can they play? Sure shootin'! They churn out some gritty, raunchy, hard-driving, in-your-face, bluesy rock and roll! Packs a punch as hard as shot of straight Wild Turkey (well, almost as hard!) I guess they could be described as ZZ Top meets Motorhead, two other bands famous for writing songs about booze and babes! They are a trio (like Motorhead), consisting of bassist/singer Micheal Hannon, guitarist/singer Steve Theado, and drummer Keith Pickens. The band certainly doesn't pull any punches, musically or lyrically. They just let loose and rock out, singing in whiskey-soaked voices about soaking yourself in whiskey, with hard, mean blues riffs and sturdy drumming. In short, these guys don't futz around, they just kick ass! What more could you want in a rock band? Isn't that the way rock and roll's supposed to be? Now, while the gimmick of writing all boozing songs may get old after a while, these guys do have what it takes to give the rock scene of today a good, hard kick in the ass, which it certainly needs! They have talent, they can rock, they don't seem to be following any trends, and they stand alone. So why shouldn't they be successful? This rabid Dog is crouching it it's kennel, growling, drooling, its eyes shimmering, just waiting to pounce out, bearing its fangs, and tear its victim to shreds, showing the world that its bite is worse than its bark! We're waiting for it! Woof Woof!
