Anxiety Blanket by Cold Cranking Amps reminds me of System of a Down meets Incubus and Faith No More while the singer has tones at points sort of similar to Manyard of Tool. The bass in the mix sticks out at times like Les Claypool's of Primus. However, Cold Cranking Amps really doesn't sound like any of these bands. Cold Cranking Amps has taken a mix of styles and created one all their own. There is definitely a commercial, marketable sound about Cold Cranking Amps that I'm sure will help them market themselves although they do not exactly fit into any one genre. "Maybe Not" is probably my favorite track on the album because of the main riff the song feeds off of. Lyrically, the album touches upon some depressing topics shrouded under black humor, "Uncertainty/ of unknown caliber to me/Tasted blue steel today/ Couldn't reach the trigger againā?¦." (from track three "Graphic View.") I would recommend Anxiety Blanket if you're into experimental rock because Cold Cranking Amps is far from your average rock band.
