What a way to start the new year with some seriously slow doom metal in the vein of Sleep, Winter,Avernus and Thorns of the Carrion. Just as slow as Winter,Evoken's style of hauntingly fresh "sludge'(as I call it) is so depressing, somber and funeralistic it's almost uncanny and this is their 2nd release and first domestic release which I think will do well considering there's less doom bands than any other type of metal on the market. More than an hour long this release fuses the combination of melancholy, thick guitars,sorrow- filled vocals and a host of ambience and soundscapes for the ears.Well pledged in Italy on AvantGarde,Evoken should really get a nice fan base with this release--exceptional stuff!!!
