When I saw this band being compared to early D.A.D., I knew, based on that comparison, that we had a winner here. But, in order to be sure, I had to hear it for myself. After giving this disc more than a few spins, I can now honestly say that, yes, we do have a winner! Gun Barrel has also been compared to Rory Gallagher and AC/DC. I can't say that I hear that in the music, but, if that's what they say, who am I to argue. Personally, if I was to give my opinion based on my first impression, well, the first band that came to mind when I gave "Power Dive" a listen was Iron Maiden and the album it brought to mind was "Powerslave." I have to admit, I might be a bit off key with that opinion because Maiden and Gun Barrel are two different bands entirely. But, that's what came to mind and, once again, who am I to argue. All I know is that this is a kick ass rock 'n' roll album, which is the kind of music that I live for. "Power Dive" now has a permanent place in my record collection and it won't be sitting on the shelf long enough to gather any dust because it'll get repeated spins in my CD player.
