Kreator
"Violent Revelation"
(SPV/Steamhammer)

By Jonathan Mariante

Classic German thrashers Kreator are back again, unleashing another vicious, aggressive thrash attack onto an unsuspecting world! Anyone who likes Kreator should love this! The guys are definitely in their klassic form with this one! This is old school thrash at its finest! Kreator are, without a doubt, masters of their craft! They are very talented, they play with "extreme aggression" (pun intended!), tightness, speed, precision, and conviction! In other words, this album really kicks ass! Singer/guitarist/bandleader Mille Petrozza is his usual self, belting out his vocals in his, rough, raw, aggressive voice, and churning out the thrash riffs as if possessed! The rest of the band play equally well, with some blazing riffs from Mille and new guitarist Sami Yli-Sirnio, and some warp-speed double bass drumming! The album is a thrash blitzkrieg from beginning to end, kicking off with the blitzing tune, "Reconquering The Throne", and storming through until the equally scorching closing track "System Decay". Other notable songs include the title track, which pounds along like a steam train from hell, the similar "Servant In Heaven/King In Hell", some lightning-speed thrashers like "All Of The Same Blood (Unity)", "Mind On Fire", "Bitter Sweet Revenge", and "Second Awakening"; there's even a song on here that seems to have caught the Pantera virus, which seems to be rampant in the metal community these days! That tune would be "Slave Machinery", which has hints of Pantera in it, and it sure as hell kicks the shit out of anything Pantera has ever done! Kreator does the Pantera thing better than Pantera, I dare say! If those Texans think they're badasses, they have yet to konfront Kreator! Anyway, as I was saying, this is one sucker-punch of an album! Nothing but pure, unrelenting, klassic-style thrash from beginning to end, the way only Kreator can do it! Long live Kreator! Hail the Violent Revolution!
