By Vinnie Apicella After hearing this, I'd be a little hesitant to ask them about taking away the sins of the world. let alone the peace-granting thing! This is anything but peaceful-and so much for the holiday cheer! Lamb of God, Metal Blade's latest find is pure, abrasive, 100 proof in yer face Heavy Metal with aggressive tendencies. With the bludgeoning capacity of Pantera and the magnitude of a once mighty Machine Head, they're doing what many former favorites used to be doing before moving over to those perceived greener pastures of mainstream terrain. That's about the best way to describe 'em-they're not traditionally stable but more in line with the latest line of brutality and lyrical discourse-"Black Label," "A Warning," and get this one, "Terror and Hubris in the House of Frank Pollard!" Don't know about this character's story but after reading this, I wouldn't wanna meet him! What'd Metal Blade steal these guys from Relapse or something? "The Subtle Art of Murder and Persuasion" is pure nutcracker, dishing it out from all angles and its by this point that I'm thinking why bother with any lyrics at all? I can't understand a blessed word they're saying within this beefed up and bloated production-yeah, definitely got that Hard-Core/Death kick to it! The guitars are all over the fucking place and I haven't heard chops like this since I don't know when. I'm not far off from comparing them to a Morbid Angel but the grunt capacity's not as strong, so maybe we'll stick more in the direction of a Brutal Truth or Today is the Day types. but definitely on the mean side of extreme, these guys will be quick to blow away audiences in the live circuit and the devastation to ensue should be one of mammoth proportions. Look for 'em to land on a major tour in the very near future. great recycled paper sleeve, logo and cover art by the way! |
