Here's a CD that's worth looking into for those of you who are fans
of guitar rock. Michael Lee Firkins puts his own mark on an interesting
selection of eight different songs. "Little Wing" and "Manic Depression"
by Jimi Hendrix, "Caravan" by Duke Ellington, "Still Alive And Well"
by Rick Derringer and Henry Mancini's "Pink Panther," which was, in
my opinion, the coolest track on the album. Three other songs and an
original called "The Window" make up the rest of the album. I'm sure
that this was a fun album for Michael to do....something that he wanted
to do because of a fondness for the material. He gains pleasure from
performing these songs and we, the audience, gain pleasure from listening
to them and Nuerra Records gains pleasure by releasing the disc. So,
everybody goes home a winner. I've heard a lot of guitar albums in my
time and this one has quickly moved to the top of my list and, if you
give it a listen, I'm sure it will become one of your favorites as well.
