My Dying Bride

Seems this label is
very quiet anymore since the early 90's when they
had tons of groundbreaking death metal and grindcore like Baphomet,
Morta Skuld,Deviated Instinct,Autopsy, etc.; the bands are either gone
onto something else or another label but at least MDB still has an
active roll and considered by me one of the forefathers of atmospheric
and somber music. The exhibitions they proclaimed with every release
musically keeps them in that category of persistance and consistency
despite woes with line-ups between "34.788%" and "The
Light At The End
Of The World". The Bridesmen have picked up Shaun Steeles and
Hamish
Glencross as part of their arsenal as well as session keboardist Yasmin
Ahmed.
The 8 tracks on "The Dreadful Hours" are very
somber,funeralistic and at
times heavy as hell with a doom feel with my quick example for the
track, "The Raven and the Rose"--nothing less than perfection
for the
whole CD; great balance between aggression, rawness, melody and symphonic
passages; plenty of emotion! This marks the band's 7th release in the
studio and as consistent as everything else they put out, it doesn't
disappoint even when they tended to experiment on previous ventures.
This CD sort of reflects back to their earlier days but adding in their
years of maturity and songwritig talents along with fresh blood
personnel to even mre enhance the songwriting department. I would say
this is an instant classic by all means.
