Robert Berry By: Paul Autry |
|
This is quite an interesting release. First of all, it was released on Magna Carta Records and, for the most part, that's a name that I trust when it comes to music. I haven't heard to many albums from Magna Carta that I haven't enjoyed. Second, this album, as it states on the cover, is music that was/is inspired by Robert Jordan's best selling series, "The Wheel Of Time." Okay, so, the books sold well, but, I've never read them and, to be honest, I never heard of them. So, I can't say anything on them. Obviously thought, the words "best selling" should mean something to you because that usually means they're good...especially if people are buying them. Third, this entire album, 19 songs in all, close to an hours worth of music, was written, performed and produced by Robert Berry. Well, since I haven't read the books, I don't fully get the storyline. No big deal there because my opinion should be based on what I'm hearing. What I've heard is an excellently produced album that was rather enjoyable. It's not something I'll listen to on a regular basis. But, that's just me. It is an album that's worth a few repeat listens though...it's not something that will bore you and it's not something that you'll grow tired of. Don't know how well you'll get into it, that would all depend on your personal listening tastes. But, it is worthy of at least one listen if you haven't heard it before. I would suggest at least checking it out. You might be suprised to find that you actually enjoy it and that's what it's all about...enjoyment!
