Stress

Some of us remain loyal
to the style of music that became larger than
life in the 80's. So, it came as no suprise that I got a CD to review
from an 80's band that's no longer together. Someone else cares about
this style of music...and this band in particular...enough to re-release
it and, yes, there's people out there who will eat it up.
"Killing Me Night And Day" was first released in 1984 and,
according to
the bio, it's a classic melodic rock album. I won't argue with that.
Anyway, this version of the album comes with seven additional bonus
tracks including two songs from a 1985 twelve inch, outtakes and
previously unreleased studio recordings featuring former Aerosmith
guitarist Jimmy Crespo. The band called it a day in 1987 and these
recordings cover their entire four year history. I'm not sure if that
means their entire recorded history or not...I'm only stating what the
printed material I recieved said. Anyway, the music on these recordings
does hold up rather well. I mean, yeah, sure, some people might hear
this and say that it's been done before. They might even use the word
"rehashed." To a certain point, I would agree. But, really, in
this day
and age what hasn't been done before? This album rocks and that's all
that matters to me. I got into music because of groups like Twisted
Sister, Kiss, Quiet Riot and stuff like that. But, before the 80's
explosion...and by that I mean all the bands that got signed and made a
name for themselves...there were plenty of other bands who weren't lucky
enough to have the spotlight shine on them. One of those bands was
Stress, which, in my opinion, is a real shame. They had some great songs
and this collection of material is all the proof you need to back up
that statement. They could've been another Ratt or another Poison or
another Journey or another...well, you get the idea. Sadly, it never
happened. But, just because they didn't recieve national attention
doesn't mean their music should be ignored. If you're like me and you
really got into music because of that magical moment in time now known
as the 80's, Stress is a band you'll want to check out.
