If ever there was a band
that had a little bit of everything in their music, it's The Perfect
Element. I didn't even get past the first track and I heard traces of
Kid Rock, Queensryche, Dream Theater and, to a certain degree, Iron
Maiden. I'm not sure what you would call their excellent blend of musical
styles, but, it really doesn't matter. It's a damn good album, the production
is top notch and it's a rockin' release. And, to make this album even
better...you get twelve songs that clock in at over an hour. It's not
about quantity here...it's about quality. "Pain Of Salvation" is loaded
with it. There's not a bum song anywhere on the album. It's not too
often that I find an album that I completely like from begining to end...even
with some of my favorite bands, I could name songs from their albums
that I'm not too fond of. I can't seem to do that here because it's
all meat and potatoes...no filler. An excellent release from an excellent
band. If you're sitting there reading this review right now, you should
be required to purchase this disc. It should be mandatory listening
for all of those people who are stuck in a musical rut, only listening
to the same shit day after day. The experience of this album will really
open your mind.
