Transfear
"Killer Species" EP
2000 (self)

By Wayne Klinger

I'm not positive on this bands origins, I want to say Canada, but I haven't seen any actual proof besides a place called Brisbane (sorry, I'm not a guru on world travel) they mention quite a bit. Something not really common nowadays is the art of "hesh", remember that term? Always linked to Flotsam & Jetsam mainly but used by quite a few bands in the 80's---a short version of "heavy thrash". Transfear is very energetic in this with added moshing, crossover and believe it or not, a slight sludgy style like Crowbar in some instances and their vocalist is very close to sounding like Biohazard. The band has been around since '97 and only has put out a debut demo besides "Killer Species" back in '99 entitled, "Sore" which took 18 months to finish writing and solidifying a line-up who's chemistry is very defined on this 4-track EP including an odd sound the band has and the added handful of influences in many different genres of metal. Worth checking out and like to hear more down the road from these guys.
