"Powerplay"

By Wayne Klinger Guitarists and drummers may know this one right off the bat. Van Ee,the sensational drummer who has teamed up with Peter Magnee once again(both were together on Magnee's solo release,"Voodoo Play" a few years ago) for somewhat of a drum solo release but only on a few tracks since we do have songs with vocals on here,instrumentals and Van Ee doing his thing; a great balance of ideas for mixing the tracks up. The production is to be desired(Magnee and Van Ee did that as well) but not terrible;just has a hollow sound but this is noted for many Danish releases and you could say this is how they like it considering how Swedish bands have that certain sound as well when they record. "Powerplay" is 53 minutes of strong,powerful drums,great rhythms and leads and the vocaled songs are very emphatic.A nice instrumental tribute to Cozy Powell is included in this release and the drum solo tracks are amazing. Guitar players and drummers will really like this one and there's plenty of other stuff on here that will appeal to the metal crowd as well. http://www.threnody.com/evanee
