Deteriorot
"In Ancient Beliefs "
(WWIII)

By Martha Hughes

The WWIII bio says that Deteriorot has been around for a long time. I feel a bit ignorant for never hearing of them before. This American east coast death metal band are tight, controlled and blisteringly intense. The rhythms vary and weave in and out of darkly shadowed songs. Many of the songs have Nile-ish ancient middle eastern melodies, but this band has a sound all its own. Witness the chanting growl on "Eternal Darkness", or the viscious blast beats on "Eternal Darkness". There are 14 songs on this CD, making it meaty enough to bite and chomp into. Deteriorot have a lot to offer; take it and enjoy the feast.
