| Home Town Hero |
| By
Jonathan Mariante I have been listening to rock and roll for twenty years now, and I can
honestly say that this one of THE MOST BORING ALBUMS I HAVE EVER HEARD!
Home Town Hero are a band that plays a lame excuse of (what barely
passes for) pop/punk/alternative music, pop being the dominant musical
force here. They sound like they are influenced by bands like Green
Day and the Goo Goo Dolls, but certainly can't hold a candle to those
bands! They sound, as wrestling superstar The Rock would say, like the
millions, AND MILLIONS, of other bands who play this style of music,
completely indistinguishable from their contemporaries. A cookie cutter
band, in other words (and not a very good one at that), who sound like
the just rolled off a musical assembly line. As I said, their music is
as boring as hell! Most of the album's songs are snail paced, limp,
plodding, one-chord numbers, each just like the other. It's almost
impossible to tell the songs apart. Even the ones that rock out a
little
more (and those are few and far between!) are not that interesting.
These guys can barely even play! If there had been some more harder
rocking tunes on here, it would have made things a little more bearable
(a hint for your next album, guys, if you read this.). Home Town
Hero should go back to their home town and learn how to play! We
don't need any more bands like this, there are already too many of
them!
They'll never be my heroes, that's for sure!
