"We've taken heavy rock music and put a fresher spin on it." Says
Pressure 4-5's front man, Adam Rich, "We tried to take this new rock
sound and give it a little bit more feeling and make it something that
would be more lyrically viable."
With hard hitting emotional songs like "Enough," "Melt Me Down" and
their first single "Beat The World" Pressure 4-5 has certainly proven to
be lyrically viable indeed. Their music, which foregoes trendy angst
metal, reflects themes of personal loss, spirituality and nonconformity
and tells about the everyday trials and tribulations of the common man
such as friends, work, faith and of course love. "We try to be a little
bit more poetic with this music, we try to write stuff more heart felt
and bring in emotions with aggressive music."
Pressure 4-5 is hot right now, just coming off the Ozzfest Tour they
have won over a whole new legion of fans that are eager and waiting for
their album to drop. Their major label debut on Dreamworks Records is
entitled Burning The Process and was released in stores on October 2nd.
"It reflects out whole point of view on the process of how a person
becomes an individual. There seems to be a set of guidelines and
standards in our society that everyone is supposed to follow to become
an adult." Explains Rich about the albums title,
"A lot of times people get caught up in this educational system and
the way they think they have to be and the way they think they have to
act. We just say you can make up your own mind for yourself, become your
own person and let's burn that process and burn those standards." The
Santa Barbara, California based band, which includes, Mark Barry
(guitars), Joe Schmidt (guitars), Lyle McKeany (bass), and Tom Schmidt
(drums), formed in 1997 while still in college. "We started playing
together in the winter of 97'. It doesn't seem like that long, but for
the first six months or so we just started writing songs; trying to find
a sound that would suite everybody in the band and see what our
influences were and see what we could come up with from that."
Their sound would be a combination of classic heavy metal, nu-metal and
neo-metal with a depth and a message that is honest and pure.
"I think those kids who were into the Backstreet Boys and stuff like
that a few years ago have gotten a little bit older and they need
something with a little more substance and a little more heart.
Something they can actually grab on to and help them get through the
next hardest part of their life." Says Rich, "There's more to music then
just that pop crap."
