By Keith Menser When you think of the legendary metal band Black Sabbath, you think of pure classic powerful doom metal. The fore fathers of heavy metal, who have spawned a successful career that has lasted for three decades of musical history. In fact Black Sabbath is one of the creators of metal and have continued on they path without losing their trademark sound. A four piece British group by the name Earth made of Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Terry 'Geezer' Bulter and Billl Ward pulled together to become a unit that would soon change into Black Sabbath. Also known as one of the all time great hard rock super groups of the 70's. The godfathers of all heavy metal. A loyal following merged from the continuing records and intense live shows. What we have here folks is Sabbath live on stage in the early days, this is vintage stuff to say the least. Black Sabbath made two great performances on the famous Beat Club/Musikladen Television series (Germany), around the time their classic "Paranoid" record (a record that has still stays in the hearts of true hearted) was issued to the world. At this time Sabbath was at the very beginning of a growing success and to witness the four original members performing at that time was a gift. On this video the group captured the attention of the German listener through their amazing performance with no time limitation which abled the group to play rare live versions of such classic's "Black Sabbath". "Iron Man" , "Paranoid" and a very rare 'live' version of the classic cut "Blue Suede Shoes". The editing of this video is pro, a ton of wild background images and wicked effects come into play... there is a line of text acrossed the bottom of the screen stating "Screener not for sale", beyond that you get a beautiful package rapped around the enormous live energy. I would suggest if you're a true fan of early Black Sabbath, by all means get this masterpiece video and experience the magic of this group. I just wish Black Sabbath would make a new studio record to mark their existence of four decades long, but Ozzy came back and now the legacy ends..... But watch for Tony Iommi's first solo coming in the near future.... Bill Ward has a new solo record coming... Ozzy is out bleeding the masses with his Oz Fest... and of course Geezer is working on his three GZR cd... Until then fill your needs with "The Best of MusikLaden Live" video. |
