Butthole Surfers "Blind Eye Sees All" (MVD)

Sept/Oct 02

By: Paul Autry

It takes a certain frame of mind to get into this group. There's no fine line between your loyalty. You either love 'em or you hate them. It's as simple as that. As for this release, it's rather easy to review. Most people who will purchase this already know what the band is all about. So, with that in mind, all you really need to know is that it's a show from 1985 that was filmed in Detroit. They're on stage doing what they do. It was rather interesting to watch. But, honestly, I just don't get it. One thing I do appreciate about this band is what they accomplished in the music business and how they accomplished it. They do their own thing and they could give a rat's ass what anyone else has to say. Gotta love their original approach.

There's some additional stuff on here, such as Butthole Karaoke, an additional live track from 1991 and a bunch of interviews with the entire band lying in bed making absolutely no sense at all. I guess it's a Butthole thing. Like I said, it takes a certain frame of mind to get into this group and if you're in that frame of mind, well, this release is probably something that you'll wanna check out.
